Acomplia Review

Prescribed as a Weight Loss and Obesity Treatment

For someone who wants to lose weight, Acomplia – also known as Rimonabant - may be the ideal weight loss product.  It was developed by a French company, Sanofi-Aventis, and is classified as an appetite suppressant although it is prescribed as a weight loss drug and as a treatment for obesity.

The Clinical Test

According to clinical tests people who were put on an Acomplia weight loss program managed to shed off 10% of their weight over a period of two years and have also lost three inches around the waist.

Other Benefits to Expect from its Use

Aside from being a weight loss product, Acomplia is said to help prevent health conditions that are the result of being overweight; Some of these health conditions include diabetes, high blood pressure and heart irregularities; Other benefits include a decrease in cravings for nicotine and for other substances that trigger addiction or dependency; Acomplia is said to also stabilize cholesterol levels by reducing the number of triglycerides.

First Appeared in the U.K. as a non-prescription drug

It is not known how long Acomplia has been in the market, although there are reports that the European Commission approved it for sale in several countries in Europe.  It first appeared in the UK as a non-prescription drug.

How it goes to Work

Acomplia’s uniqueness lies in its ability for blocking the CB1 receptors which are found in the brain and fatty tissues. These receptors trigger hunger and cravings for sweet foods and other sugary foods. Acomplia has secondary properties in that it can normalize good and bad cholesterol and prevent the risks of heart disease and circulatory disorders. There were also claims that it can enhance memory.

The Side-Effects

Acomplia has side effects. These may include the inability to sleep, anxiety attacks, disorientation, hallucinations, headaches, fatigue and dizziness. This is why people who are considering Acomplia as a weight loss dietary supplement must consult their doctors first especially if they have been diagnosed with any heart, liver, or kidney disorders. For women who are trying to become pregnant, they must also seek the advice of their physician before taking Acomplia.

Acomplia is usually taken before breakfast. They come in 20 mg pills. Ask your doctor how to proceed if you missed a daily dose.

Many People Regained the Pounds After Stopping

It should be noted that some clinical trials have proven that a few people who stopped taking Acomplia regained the pounds by as much as 50%.  The key to success with Acomplia is to change diet preferences and to combine it with regular physical exercise.  These diet changes and fitness routines must be continued even after treatment to ensure effectiveness.
