What is the Israeli Army Diet?
The Israeli Army Diet began as a diet choice by the new recruits of the Israeli Armed Forces. The diet is considered extreme and causes quick, rapid weight loss but for a short period. This diet came out as a fad diet in the 70's when it gained lots of publicity.
Its viewed that if the dieter followed this diet regime for the full days the person would enjoy a short-term weight loss.
The diet lasts for a period of eight days during which the dieter eats one type of food for two days each. You are allowed a single type of food per day as well as unlimited amounts of tea and coffee.
The idea is a good idea as you are given a short term weight loss, thereby it will allow you to reach your goal in the shortest time possible. Ideal for a special event or just to get rid of those extra pounds that you might feel tired of. However the diet works only because of the drastic reduction in calories. For instance, one is to eat an apple for a day or two, cheese for day three and four, chicken for day five and six and salad for day seven and eight.
What to expect with this diet
You are likely to acheive extreme amounts of hunger, light headedness, dizzyness and nausea. The diet should be avoided by people that are diabetic or have a medical condition because there is no nutritional value. Also another bad aspect is that after stopping the diet you will quickly regain weight as if you were never on this diet.
There is no excercise program with this diet due to the severe restrictions of this diet. If the body exerts a physical force, a feeling of weakness will be felt. Therefore physical activity is basically impossible.
