As its name suggests, Orovo Detox is a detoxification substance – meaning it cleans your “inner pipes” so that your body regularly eliminates what it does not need. Whether this process makes you lose weight remains to be seen. Orovo Detox is also a weight loss aid and the manufacturers claim that you can lose 7 pounds every 7 days. That claim, too, remains to be seen. We don’t see how losing 7 pounds every week is safe from a health standpoint. Because you lose a lot in a week, does it mean that once you stop taking Orovo Detox, you could gain a lot back? The premise of Orovo Detox is that people gain unwanted pounds because of toxic buildup. The formulation therefore included the 10 super foods that a dermatologist discussed while interviewed on the Oprah Winfrey show plus a long list of natural foods and herbs. In fact Orovo Detox seems to be the only product, so far, to have more than 15 ingredients listed on the label!

Back to the 10 super foods, they were combined to come up with a proprietary blend consisting of: acai, alfalfa sprouts, barley, buckwheat, cayenne pepper, flax seed, garlic, lactobacillus acidophilus, soy isoflavones, and wheatgrass (that comes to 13 ingredients, not 10) plus an antioxidant proprietary blend consisting of green tea (with 50% caffeine), DMAE, alpha lipoic acid and idebenone.

Most of these ingrdients are typically found in weight loss products. Lactobacillus acidophilus are live cultures (you find them in yogurt), soy isoflavones are packed with amino acids and are known to prevent the growth of tumors and menopausal problems. DMAE is an organic compound and some researchers believe that it may have a potential positive effect on mood. Alpha lipoic acid, on the other hand, is a fatty acid produced naturally by the body and is needed to convert glucose into sugar. Idebenone is still in its experimental stages as a drug and is under study as a possible treatment for Alzheimer’s and other mental deficiencies. It is supposed to improve alertness.

How all these ingredients work to promote weight loss and detoxification is not clear; what can be said, however is that the ingredients in Orovo Detox have been recognized for their health-promoting properties.
