Reductil Review

Curbs Appetite

It’s the same weight loss premise over and over again. As an appetite suppressant, Reductil – or sibutramine as it is known in medical circles – helps people lose weight by preventing the nerve cells that release and then take back serotonin. By doing this, levels of serotonin in the brain are increased, telling the brain “I’m full.” It is this fullness message that curbs the appetite of dieters, helping them to shed off those unwanted pounds.

Reductil is Prescribed

Reductil is prescribed to people who find that they’re just going around in circles with their weight loss efforts - meaning whatever they do, they can’t seem to get rid of the excess pounds. Reductil can NOT be prescribed to people who have heart trouble, high blood pressure, thyroid problems, kidney and liver disorders or insomnia. Reductil also cannot be taken by women who are planning to get pregnant or who are breastfeeding. Reductil cannot be prescribed to people who are taking other medications that affect serotonin levels in the brain (e.g. sumatriptan, opiod pain killers).

Read the Product Label Carefully

People who are prescribed Reductil must follow the instructions of their doctor and read the product label carefully.

Health Canada on Sibutramine (Reductil) weight loss
From an online rticle written by Stuart Stevens in 2006, Health Canada issued a warning saying that there are two herbal weight loss supplements from China that should not be used because they contained sibutramine. Sibutramine is a compound that is found in Reductil, a prescription-based weight loss diet supplement that must be taken under close supervision by a physician.

Sibutramine’s main activity is to suppress the appetitite and Reductil’s formulation contains it. Reductil is known under the name “Meridia” in North America. Both the FDA and EU health authority, according to Stevens’ article, say that Reductil is safe when it is properly administered, but when used improperly, sibutramine can increase heart beats and blood pressure. The two supplements that were mentioned by Health Canada are LiDa Daidaihua Slimming Capsules and Super Fat Burning Pills – and are not licensed for sale in Canada.

What the Testimonials Say

There are some online testimonials that point to the success that people have had with Reductil and none of them has reported any side effects. People who take Reductil are advised to take one 15 mg pill a day, with or without a meal. Information on a British web site selling Reductil weight loss pills said that when combined with the proper diet and exercise, Reductil can help people lose as much as 10%-15% of their total body weight, although there was no time frame indicated.;
